Everyone wants to see your certification card; Operators, stores, boats, and
resorts. The card is verification that
you know what you are doing when you put your head underwater.
What do you
do if you lose your c-card or leave it behind? Your card can be replaced. If
you know what to do, it can be replaced quickly. Become familiar with the
policies and procedures of your certification agency for card replacement. Know
what information the agency requires and keep it handy. Most agencies will
verify your certification by phone or fax to the resort or operator. I am NAUI certified and I lost my card. I was headed for Jamaica on a cruise and
wanted to dive the area. I called NAUI
and for $10.00us they faxed me temp card good for a month or so and for
$30.00us they send out a new card. Very
easy and painless. By the way the dive
operator never asked to see my certification. Oh well, I had it incase.
The cost of
replacement varies with each agency. It is a good idea to have an extra
certification card. For more information, contact your agency. Most certifying
agencies are listed below. To make it
easier here are some things you try to have Name, date of certification,
certification number, name of instructor. Helpful: Instructor's certification
number, dive store where certified, store's affiliate number, birth date, name
of student from your class.
