Wyland To Paint Giant Seascape in Front of Live Audience

At the Diving Industry Awards Gala Event

Wyland, the world's Premier Ocean artist, has been a pioneer in the marine art movement since 1971.

This painter, sculptor, and muralist is one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of our time.

Perhaps of all time. To date, in addition to his spectacular paintings of a wide variety of marine life,

It is estimated that more than one billion people are exposed to Wyland's art each year.

He has approximately 25,000 collectors of his work in over thirty countries, and perhaps more than any other artist, he has raised the planet's environmental consciousness with regard to the oceans and their inhabitants.

Two Industry Events The Same Evening Give DEMA Attendees a Choice!

On Friday, October 10, world renowned artist, Wyland, whose paintings of marine mammals (particularly whales) and sweeping ocean scenes can fetch up to six figures, will create a "hands on" work of art for a Live Auction at the 5th Diving Industry Awards GALA at the Loews Hotel in Miami Beach.

The 5th Diving Industry Awards GALA is a separate and distinct event from DEMA's Reaching Out Awards, an event being held elsewhere the same evening. The Diving Industry Awards Gala is produced by the Academy of Underwater Arts & Sciences and The Historical Diving Society, two international non profit organizations which recognize pioneers and leaders in diving.

The GALA will begin at 7:00 PM and includes a black-tie-optional reception and banquet as well a Silent Auction during which attendees can bid on other Wyland paintings and a host of other unique prizes. Dr. Phil Nuytten returns as the Master of Ceremonies and guests will include diving luminaries such as Zale Parry from TV's original Sea Hunt series.

During the Diving Industry Awards GALA, AUAS will present its prestigious NOGI Award to John Stoneman, for Arts, Dr. Anatoly Sagalevitch, Ph.D., for Science, Edward C. Cargile, for Sports & Education, and Emile Gagnan (posthumously) for Distinguished Service. The Historical Society will present The Historical Diver Magazine Pioneer Award to Dr. Andreas B. Rechnitzer, Ph.D. and the E.R. Cross Award to Greg Platt. In addition to painting an original canvas, Wyland will also present special awards to Dr. Sylvia Earle, Paul Tzimoulis and John Cronin.

The Fifth Annual Diving Industry Awards GALA presents a unique opportunity to socialize with industry leaders and true diving pioneers and legends, in an elegant, relaxed setting. The GALA is open to diving professionals and the public.

Seating is limited, so those wishing to attend are advised to purchase tickets early. Tickets for the 5th Diving Industry Awards GALA are $75.00 per person, or $1,000.00 for a sponsors table for ten guests. Ticket orders will be accommodated on a "first come, first served" basis by sending a check or credit card information to:
